This sweet boy was reported as a neglect case, about 15 lbs underweight, severely dehydrated, positive for Lyme disease and full of hookworms. With just one week of the correct medications, some sub-cue fluid support, good quality food and a warm, cozy foster home set him right. His name was changed to Mulligan, because he got to have a Do-Over.  Within a month, he had doubled his weight and grown several inches, he is now around 60 pounds.

Mulligan will steal your heart (and your shoe, but only to sleep with it). He is as sweet and loving as can be, and really doesn't understand WHY he can't be a lap baby. He is a big Galoot with a lot of puppy energy, and is making up for lost time! He loves to play & rough house with his foster dog sisters . Mulligan thinks cats are just fine, but is working on not chasing when they run. Mulligan is an ENERGETIC and LARGE pup, we do not recommend a home with children under the age of 10 years old. (Although he is great with Foster's grandchildren, 2,5 & 7 who have a big Chocolate Lab) Did we mention he has a LOT of energy? Bonus if you are a jogger/hiker, or have a fenced yard for Mulligan to zoom off his energy. His level of energy will require either a fenced yard or a canine companion looking for a playmate and a lot of dog park time. He has learned sit, down, stay/wait, leave it and grudgingly, drop it. He is a smart boy and VERY treat motivated. Our guess is he would be top in his class if enrolled in obedience training.   He has never met a stranger yet. He makes friends everywhere he goes. He is not overly fond of being in a crate, and may cry and bark at night if he has not expended enough energy throughout the day. Usually he sleeps on the couch (he is a big couch potato), or on the bedroom floor with the other dogs in his foster home. He is getting better on a leash, but does get excited by something new or interesting, and it is a strength and endurance test. He is in a chewing phase, so has lots of toys strewn around, and his favorite teething toy is a deer antler. He is potty trained. He has a large 3" Jingle Bell hanging on the door knob which he bumps with his nose to indicate he wants to go outside. He has been left inside with the other dogs for up to 6 hrs at a time with no accidents, and goes all night without needing to go outside.

Mulligan's adoption fee of $300 includes neutering, vaccinated with distemper combo and rabies shots, heartworm tested negative and on preventative, dewormed and a microchip. Oh, and an endless supply of puppy kisses!   If you would like to meet Mulligan, please submit an online adoption application at  It takes about 3-5 business days to process, and upon approval of your application a volunteer will be in contact to set up a private appointment with you.
